Release: Maryland Governor Wes Moore Endorses Vanessa Atterbeary for Howard County Executive
Columbia, MD — Today, Governor Wes Moore endorsed Vanessa Atterbeary and her campaign for Howard County Executive:
"I am proud to endorse Vanessa Atterbeary to be the next Howard County Executive,” said Governor Wes Moore. “Vanessa is the battle-tested partner I need in Howard County to stand up to the corruption we’re seeing in Washington and protect our communities and our values. She has a proven track record of taking on far-right extremists as a leader in Maryland’s General Assembly, and I know she will never back down from our fight to build a Maryland that leaves no one behind."
“I am honored by Governor Moore’s support and endorsement,” said Vanessa Atterbeary. “We are running a grassroots campaign to bring bold and proven leadership to Howard County government. Governor Moore has seen firsthand the need for leaders prepared to fight back and defend families amid continued chaos from the Trump Administration. Having worked with Governor Moore on some of our toughest issues, I know how we can work together to better serve Howard County. I am thrilled to have his backing as we continue this grassroots, community-focused campaign to protect our children’s future.”
Born and raised in Howard County, Vanessa Atterbeary learned early that public service means fighting for your community and delivering real results. As a lawyer, she took on a broken system and stood up for domestic violence survivors. As a delegate, she fought MAGA extremists trying to ban books and censor classrooms, took on the NRA, and passed laws to curb gun violence.
As County Executive, Vanessa will stand up to Trump's fascist agenda and run county government with accountability and transparency. She will protect Howard County’s federal workers, keep abortion clinics open, and prevent local law enforcement from being deputized by ICE. Raising her three children here, Vanessa will make Howard County more affordable, strengthen our schools, and always stand up for our democracy.
