Democrat Vanessa Atterbeary is the projected winner of the 2026 race for Howard County executive.
The Associated Press projected the Democrat as the winner just before midnight Tuesday.
Atterbeary emerged from a four-way Primary Election race and defeated Green Party candidate Nater Kane. No Republican candidates ran in the Primary.
Atterbeary, who previously represented Howard County's 13th District as a state delegate, pointed to her policymaking experience chairing the House Ways and Means Committee and serving as a Democratic Caucus leader.
