Release: Leaders from Across Howard County and Maryland Endorse Vanessa Atterbeary for Howard County Executive

Columbia, MD — Today, Vanessa Atterbeary unveiled endorsements from elected leaders across Howard County and Maryland:

“Vanessa’s love of Howard County has been plain to see throughout her career in public service,” said Maryland Treasurer Dereck Davis. “I have seen first-hand her drive to improve her home and serve Howard County, however she can. I am proud to support her as she runs to continue her leadership as the next Howard County Executive.”

“Vanessa has a servant's heart, and I am thrilled to support her campaign,” said Howard County Councilmember Opel Jones. “As a county councilmember, I know what it takes to lead Howard County, and without a doubt, I believe she is the best candidate to serve as our next Howard County Executive."

“I have seen up close Vanessa’s leadership on the Ways and Means Committee through some of the state’s toughest challenges,” said Delegate Chao Wu. “And her focus on serving families, improving schools, fighting for Howard County, and ensuring all voices were at the table never wavered. That is why I am supporting her to be our next Howard County Executive.”

“In times like these, we need leaders like Vanessa,” said Delegate Gabriel Moreno. “As Donald Trump attacks vulnerable communities across this country, we need a County Executive like Vanessa fighting back. I enthusiastically endorse her campaign for Howard County Executive.”

“I am honored to have received the support of so many Howard County and Maryland leaders as we continue this campaign,” said Former Delegate Vanessa Atterbeary. “I am focused on bringing people together across our home in order to solve some of our most defining challenges. We need to fully fund our public schools, tackle the affordability crisis, and fight the chaos coming from our federal government. Howard County needs a proven leader who is prepared to meet the moment  and ensure that families have the local government that they deserve.”

Vanessa Atterbeary's life has been spent serving others, most notably fighting to protect public education funding as a leader representing Howard County in the Maryland House of Delegates. Throughout her tenure in the General Assembly, Atterbeary has been one of Howard County’s most effective advocates for public education, consistently fighting to secure funding, protect classroom resources, and ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed. Atterbeary fought to enact landmark legislation to protect abuse and assault survivors, hold perpetrators accountable, and lead Maryland’s first-in-the-nation police accountability reforms.

Now she’s ready to bring that same record of results home, making sure Howard County has a County Executive who can work with state leaders and stand up to the Trump Administration. She will ensure that, despite the chaos coming from Washington DC, families can afford to live here, children thrive in great schools, and every resident has a voice at the table. Her campaign has been endorsed by the Howard County Educators Association and the People’s Voice PAC
